Welcome to the memorial page for

Rosemarie Engel

November 6, 1947 ~ August 15, 2015 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Rosemarie Engel, a longtime resident of Pe Ell, passed away, peacefully, on Aug. 15, 2015, after a prolonged "Parkinson- like" illness. She was born November 6, 1947 in Schleswig- Holstein, Germany to Hilda and Sylvester Murcha. At age 2, the family immigrated to Western Australia. In 1968 she met and married Navy Sailor, John Engel. She immigrated to the United States in 1969, residing in Long Beach, CA before settling in Maryland in 1970. One of Rose's proudest achievements was gaining US Citizenship in 1973. Rose was later divorced and along with her two children, Chris and Sandie, best friend, Dolores Lee and her daughter, Cecilia, she moved to Pe Ell in 1981.

Rose was a very talented seamstress/ tailor, working many years in the Washington DC area. Locally, she worked for Centralia Knitting Mills, Rainier West Sportswear and National Seating. Her work ethic was strong and energetic. There was no project to daunting for Rose, including upholstery, home improvements, refinishing furniture, canning and gardening. Her love for family and friends was limitless. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.

The last few years were hard for Rose with her illness. Yet, she remained gracious and stoic. No matter how she felt, she always had a smile for you, even when she could no longer communicate.

She is survived by her son, Chris Engel (Stacy) and grandaughters, Allison and Madilyn Engel of Pe Ell; daughter, Sandie Williams (Justin Fox) and grandson, Anthony Williams of Centralia; brothers Stephen and Udo Murcha and their families in Perth, Australia; and longtime friend, Dolores Lee, and her family of Pe Ell.

Rose was preceded in death by her mother and father.

The family would like to thank Linda Amondson Muller and the staff at Logan Street Manor in Chehalis for the exceptional care and love for Rose the last years of her life. You are special to all of us.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Catholic Community Services, Transportation, 1570 N. National Ave. Suite 211, Chehalis, WA 98532. Please be sure to include Rose's name with any donation.

A potluck Celebration of Life will be held at Fort Borst Park, Kitchen #1 in Centralia on September 26 at 12:00 p.m.
