Chester Raymond Steele

Chester Raymond Steele, 100, of Chehalis, Wash., passed away Oct. 5, 2016. He was born to David and Polley Steele Aug. 3, 1916, in Riffe, Wash. In 1938, he met and married the love of his life, Ruth, of 75 years. His life occupations consisted of logging, saw milling, farming and carpentry. He loved logging, hunting, camping and gardening. He also loved God and enjoyed quoting the scripture, he was baptized and became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed visiting with people, was always up for a good laugh or joke and he always met you with a smile on his face. Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents; five brothers; three sisters; four children; two grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He is survived by his sisters, Esther Linson and Maybelle Steele; children, Virgina Hendry, Jeanette McMenamy, Tracy Steele, Wesley Steele, Norman Steele, Debra Steele and Reta Fleming; 18 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Viewing available at Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock, Oct. 12, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Claquato Cemetery, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at 11 a.m., followed by a potluck at the Chehalis Seventh-day Adventist Church.
