Thomas Grant Nickell, a cherished resident of Chehalis, Washington, passed away on June 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on June 2, 1938, in the quaint town of Maple Valley, Thomas lived a life rich with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Thomas spent his professional years as a delivery driver for Dairygold, navigating the bustling streets of Seattle with a smile and a wave to everyone he met. His work was more than just a job; it was a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to service. After retirement, Thomas didn’t slow down. Instead, he channeled his boundless energy into community involvement, becoming a familiar and friendly face in local social groups. His outgoing nature and willingness to go above and beyond to help those in need left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was also an avid fisherman and loved taking his boat out on the Cowlitz River fishing for steelhead and Columbia River fishing for sturgeon.
Family was the cornerstone of Thomas's life. He is survived by his loving wife, Ginger Nickell, who was his steadfast partner and confidante. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and laughter. His daughters, Stacy Nickell Jha and Nikki Guenther, grandson Jeffrey Almond carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity, embodying the values he held dear.
Thomas was preceded his beloved mother, Virginia McGill, and father, Robert Nickell, as well as his brothers Ronald, Terrance, and Robert Nickell. The loss of his sons, Montgomery, Jeffrey, and Matthew Nickell, was a profound sorrow that he bore with grace and strength, finding solace in the love of his surviving family.
In remembering Thomas, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and joy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories of his infectious laughter and the warmth of his presence, knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with those he dearly missed.
