Theresa Rose Fegles

Theresa Rose (Ferguson) Fegles passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023, surrounded by her three daughters. She was born in Marshfield, OR on March 7, 1943. 

Theresa grew up and attended school in Winlock, graduating in 1961. 

She attended Centralia College and also worked at Pacific Northwest Bell as a telephone operator. 

In 1965, she married the love of her life, Raymond. They briefly lived in San Diego and Long Beach while Raymond served in the Navy. Raymond later died in 1982 as a result of a work-related accident.

Theresa went back to work in 1979, when all three girls were in school. She was the librarian at Winlock Miller Elementary for 28 years and also served as the Athletic Event Coordinator for the school district, retiring in 2007.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, visiting the local casinos and attending events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Theresa only drove Ford vehicles and cheered for the Seattle Seahawks and WSU Cougars. She was also very active in the local community by volunteering at the food bank, being a member of the Lions Club and helping with Winlock Egg Days. She was honored as one of the Grand Marshalls of the Egg Day Parade in 2022. 

Theresa is survived by her three daughters Suzanne Blair (Ken) of Kelso; Terri Schmidt (Joe) of Winlock; and Rebecca Rakoz (Brian) of Winlock. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family. Family was everything to her and she loved having everyone together.

Graveside service will be Friday, June 23 at 3pm St. Urban Cemetery in Winlock. A viewing will be held just prior to the service, inside the St. Urban Catholic Church. A celebration of life potluck will be Saturday, June 24 at 1pm at the Winlock Community Building. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Urban Foundation, the Winlock-Vader Food Bank or the Winlock Senior Center.
