Samuel Marcus Disney, 79, of Pe Ell, Washington, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on April 10, 2025. Sam, the third of six children, was born to Crayton and Dorothy Disney. The family settled in the Boistfort Valley when he was 6 years old. Sam attended school in Boistfort, and that’s where he met the love of his life, Alice Moon. They began going steady in seventh grade, and they remained hopelessly devoted to each other until Alice’s passing eight months ago. Sam and Alice married on March 9, 1963, and son Mark soon followed. After Sam got a job with Weyerhaeuser, they purchased a house in Pe Ell, where son Brian and daughter Trisha completed the family. Sam had a strong work ethic and was highly respected as a mechanic, but he really excelled at being a dedicated husband and father. He has been a role model to many of what a husband and father should be. Sam coached his boys in baseball and helped coach Trisha in fastpitch. He and Alice would load up the old station wagon with players and ball equipment, then head down the road to away games. Photo albums show two decades of Sam wearing a PL hat and posing with numerous ball teams. His quiet, calm, patient demeanor on and off the field garnered respect and formed lifelong friendships. He is cemented in many past players’ fondest memories. In 1991, Sam’s first grandchild, Tanner, was born, and the title of “Grandpa” fit him like a glove. You wouldn’t have thought he could have been happier, but then Samantha, Macy, Bailey and Dustin came along. In retirement, Sam and Alice spent years traveling the roads of Lewis County watching the grandkids play sports. When they weren’t watching grandkids, they enjoyed hosting big family holiday gatherings, going to the casino, stopping to eat at Applebee’s, finding treasures at garage sales and relaxing in the backyard. Summers were spent camping at the beach and tending big gardens with Grandma Moon. In the fall, Sam always looked forward to his week at the hunting cabin with his hunting partners Mark, Brian and Ronnie. In the later years, the grandkids would come, and Sam would have more fun watching them hunt and enjoyed standing around the campfire telling stories. In his spare time, he could always be found tinkering in his shop. Within the past six years, Sam became a great-grandpa to Blakely, Kade, Granger, Kara, Fallon, Weston, Waylon and one on the way. Sam’s heart was full of love, and that showed by the twinkle in his eyes. He beamed whenever he saw his children, his grandchildren or his great-grandchildren. He had a way of making everyone feel special. Sam is survived by sons, Mark and Brian (Beth); daughter, Trisha; brother, Walt (Chris) Disney; sister, Phyllis (Bill) Justice; sisters-in-law, Ann Disney and Bev Whisman; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his little companion, Midge. Sam spent his life taking care of everyone. Alice has been waiting, and now it’s his turn to be taken care of. Heaven, you got a good one! A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the VFW Hall in Pe Ell from noon till 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Pe Ell Fire Department.
