Ruth Richards Obituary

Ruth Jane Richards

June 9, 2022 – March 25, 2024 (21 months old)

Ruth Jane Richards was born on June 9, 2022 in Vancouver, Washington, to Dustin and Katherine Richards. Leaving this world suddenly in her sleep on March 25, 2024.  Ruth is survived by her parents, Dusty and Katie of Vancouver, Washington, her grandparents, Derril and Angela Richards of Woodland, Washington, Walt and Beccie Orth of Winlock, Washington, and Cindy Williams of Iowa, great-grandmothers, Sandra Richards of Camas, Washington and Jane Polm of Longview, Washington.  Ruth was also  loved by her many uncles, aunts and cousins.  The family will hold a private celebration of life at a future time.

“Rue”, as she was nicknamed, loved playing with her stuffies – especially Elmo, taking baths with all her rubber ducks while playing under the running water, which always brought laughter. Right from the start, Rue loved watching Miss Rachel, and playing with the family pets. As soon as Rue could walk, she was set on exploring. Independent and strong, adventurous, and fearless was Rue.  Taking on the staircase at her grandparents’ home, up and down, over and over again. Playing with and chasing after her older cousins. Rue loved music. Anytime it was playing, Rue was sure to begin swaying and “dancing” and singing along. Dusty would often show her how to play the keys on the piano or blow in his harmonica. Smart, clever, curious, beautiful and filled with imagination. She loved playing outdoors most of all.  Drawing with her sidewalk chalk. To watch her look at a flower, a pinecone, her first snowfall, with such wonder were priceless moments of pure joy. It was a wonderful moment for Katie, when snapping countless pictures, she could finally get Rue to stand still long enough to smile and ham it up for the camera.  In her calmer moments, you would find Rue sitting quietly paging through her many books or playing with her stickers.  Rue was always such a happy girl.
