Nathan Gleason Obituary

Nathan Joseph Gleason, 28, passed away Aug. 5, 2019. He was born Dec. 12, 1990, at Centralia, Wash. Nathan was preceded in death by his Grandpa Ben, Grandpa Ron, Grandpa Gary and Grandma Nanny. Sadden by his passing are his mom, Janet; and his dad, Ronnie; gramma Alice; ad his brothers, Dillan, Wyatt, Eric and John; sisters, Britany and Madison; and many cousins; aunts and uncles. Nathan attended grade school in Rochester and then moved to Chehalis, where he continued his education in the Chehalis School District. While attending WF West High School, he started his fi rst job at Mary McCranks and later at Jammers and 5th Ave. Sandwich Shop in Olympia. Nathan attended Centralia Community College as a young adult, but his biggest passion was his music. Nathan not only played guitar, but also wrote music and lyrics, he jammed with local bands and played at The Matrix, as well as some local churches. Perhaps one of his favorite memories growing up was when he and two of his cousins bought ukuleles while vacationing in Waikiki and played street music for locals and tourists alike. Skateboarding!!! Skateboarding was Nathan’s second favorite thing to do, which is probably why he was so good at it and drove him to seek out skate parks wherever we went. He skated in a lot of towns in Washington, Astoria, Ore., and even in Canada. He loved taking his brothers to the skate park and was very proud to teach them new moves and all the tips and tricks he had learned. Nathan appreciated when someone did something for him. Often times things that may appear seemly small to others meant the world to him, like the Christmas cookies his Aunt Wendy sent over last year, and two years ago when Aunt Cherie came down to help him move into his apartment. Nathan’s most treasured possession was his bible. He loved reading it and had read the Bible multiple times, always fi nding something new and inspiring in the words and the inspiration those words brought, and like most, he had quite a few favorite verses. Maybe one of my fondest memories was when Nathan told stories of when he fi shed with his dad and his dad told him not to let it get away. Nathan said most of the time the fi sh did escape and he and his dad would laugh. “All we ever wanted, was just a little more daylight, Before we had to say good night.” - Nathan J. Gleason A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Napavine Cemetery.
