On the morning of February 27th, Nancy Bess (Williams) Reid, 87, of Longview Washington, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and was reunited with her husband, Jerry, who preceded her in death, December of 2025. She was born on March 26th, 1938, in Longview Washington to William Raymond and Anna Bess Wemmer Williams of Rainier, Oregon.
Nancy met and married Jerry Reid, on August 13th, 1956, and started building a life together that was centered on their love for God, family and many church friends. She was a devoted mother to sons Tim, Rick, Lee and daughter, Laurie. Nancy and Jerry were also foster parents to many, from infants to teenagers. Many of them stayed in contact for several years.
Nancy was committed to raising and taking care of her family. Later on, when her children had become more self-sufficient, she went back to school and got her associate’s degree, and used that degree to help be an educator at Zion Educational Center. She also worked as a school bus driver for the Longview School District, where she felt it was her ministry to be a Godly example to every child on her bus route. Nancy retired from her bus driving job after more than 10 years of dedicated service.
Nancy really enjoyed sewing and used her talent as a seamstress, to make clothes for her family. During the summer months, she also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, at the church campgrounds. Most of all, she loved playing the piano, and sometimes the accordion. As a gifted pianist, she played for several church choirs and worship teams. She would oftentimes be heard at home, practicing, for hours at a time, because she was determined to play the piano to the best of her ability. What she most desired was to use the gift that God had blessed her with, whenever, and wherever she could.
Nancy is survived by, brother William (Bill) Williams (wife Vicky), Sister Shirley (Williams) Woodruff (husband Bill); children Rick Reid (wife Joan), Lee Reid (wife Kelly), Laurie Fraser, and Daughter-in-law Pam Reid; grandchildren, Dustin Reid, Katie Anderson, Michelle McVey, Nichole Boaglio, Lindsay Letteer, Tyler Reid, Jodi Reid, Adam Hislop and Blake Fraser; also included are many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close family friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, of 69 1/2 years, brother David Williams, and oldest son Tim Reid.
Nancy loved her husband, Jerry, with a great passion that extended past the days of his life with her. She will be dearly missed by those of us who survive her. However, family and friends who have gone before, are rejoicing at her arrival. And now, in her new heavenly body, she is celebrating on the streets of gold, in the presence of her Heavenly Father!
