It is with our deepest sorrows, that we announce that Michael Lee Hughes, 70, has lost his battle to cancer on May 21, 2023 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by loved ones. Michael, a middle child, was born in Centralia on June 19, 1952 and was raised in Lewis County Washington by Wallace and Francis Hughes. After high school, Michael enlisted in the military spending four years in the Army and three years in the National Guard. Michael traveled with his unit to Germany and upon returning to the United States, he was stationed at Fort Ord, CA. After Michael finished his service, he worked several different jobs, but his main passion was engineering. During his free time, he loved to remodel and restore things along with being an avid fisherman and enjoying the outdoors. He loved watching GunSmoke and spending time with his family. Michael had an amazing journey through life and always was there to help others. Michael is survived by his sister, Janette (Michael) Largen; brothers, Rocky Hughes, Duane (Erin) Sharp; daughters, Cristina Lupo, Naomi (Michael) Morales, SierraDawn Hughes, Melissa (JW) Williams; son, Jacob Hughes; step-sons, Michael Loving, David Loving; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and was a father figure to many. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, uncles, and aunts. A Military Honors service will be held on July 16, 2023 at 2:00 at Lewis & Clark State Park off Jackson HWY.
