Marilene Weed Obituary

Marilene Faye Williams Weed, 85, of Randle, Washington, passed away on April 20, 2026. Born on June 3, 1940, in Dayton, Washington, to Cecil Eugene Williams and Clara Mildred Webb, Marilene was named after her Aunt Pauline Faye Lowe Webb. Marilene's birth took place at the old hospital in Dayton, Washington, the same hospital where two of her sons, Chuck and Jeff, were later born.

Marilene shared strong bonds with her three sisters, Marilyn, Bev, and Donna. Their childhood was filled with happiness, and they especially loved being able to play outside together. They enjoyed activities like roller skating, hide and seek, building forts, and swimming in pools or rivers. The anticipation of going into town always thrilled the girls, leading Marilene and Bev to sneak into the back seat of their father's car when he prepared for a trip. Although their father was never happy when he found them, the excitement of going to the city made it worth the risk!
Marilene had a delightful childhood and relished her time at school with her classmates. Her passion for history began early in her school days and continued throughout her life. Music also played a significant role in her life; she used to sing and play the guitar. She shared her love of music with her children and consequently many of them excel in singing, playing a musical instrument, or both.

Some of Marilene's fondest childhood memories revolve around heading to the river with her parents to fish for sturgeon. Her father, a passionate fisherman, enjoyed spending time on lakes and rivers. He often took the family out on his beloved boat to experience the excitement of being out on the water and catching fish.
When Marilene was 12, she went on a trip with her parents to the Native Chelio Falls fishing grounds. It was a sight to watch the indigenous people fish from the rocks. When Marilene’s father went to buy some salmon from one of the natives, the gentleman offered a very large fish in exchange for Cecil’s lovely daughter. Luckily, Cecil was far too attached to Marilene to take the bait, even for a huge salmon!

Marilene deeply admired and respected her parents. A crucial lesson they imparted to her was the value of honesty. They also taught her to let go of negative emotions and move on from hardships.

As with everyone, Marilene faced struggles in her life.  Despite the hardships, she persevered and her life took a positive turn when she met and started dating Paul Weed. They were married on October 9, 1986.  They shared a fulfilling life together, dedicating each day to each other's happiness.

Marilene's career in healthcare began humbly as a candy striper at a local hospital, but her calling to help others quickly grew into something much bigger. She dedicated many years as a volunteer EMT in her community, answering the call whenever her neighbors needed her most. The majority of her professional life was spent in the operating room, where she assisted with a wide variety of surgeries. Even outside of work, Marilene used her nursing expertise and compassionate nature to care for her family and community over many, many years.
She joyfully welcomed five children into the world, cherishing each one as a precious blessing. Her family grew beautifully over the decades to include 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and the arrival of each new little one brought her immense happiness. Marilene's heart was big enough for all of them.

Marilene is survived by her beloved husband, Paul Eugene Weed; her children, Dan (Nancy) Wright, Charles (Jeanette) Wright, Charlene Hancock, Jeffrey (Martha) Wright, and Andrew (Cindy) Wright; her sister, Beverly Jeane Gaines; along with her 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Marilyn Kaye Roff and Donna Lou Smith.
