Karlene Kay (Barrow) Raines, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, in Salkum, Washington, at the age of 73. Born on August 19, 1951, in Crestview, Florida, Karlene brought joy and light to everyone around her throughout her remarkable life.
Karlene was the cherished daughter of James and Lois Barrow. She grew up alongside her siblings, creating bonds that would last a lifetime. Karlene was preceded in death by her brothers, James (JW) and John, and her sister Ellen, but she left behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of her family.

Known for her exceptional talent in selling, she often became a million-dollar seller, gaining the respect and admiration of her colleagues and clients alike.
Karlene’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. As an active believer in Jesus, she worshipped at the Assemblies of God Church, where she utilized her musical gifts as an accomplished singer and worship leader. Her deep-rooted connection to her faith inspired many in her community, as she shared her love for God through her beautiful voice and genuine spirit.
Family was at the heart of Karlene’s existence. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Cassandra Fritz, Kristopher Emerson, and Kevin Emerson. Karlene also embraced her role as a loving mother-in-law to Tim Fritz and Jennie Emerson and welcomed her daughters-in-law, Stephany Emerson, into the family with open arms. Her love extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life and brought her immense joy.
