Judith was born on Nov. 21 1938 to Earline and Harold "Chick" Thomas in Toledo, WA. She spent the first four years of her life in Ryderwood, WA where her father worked for Long Bell Lumber Company as a timber faller. Her family then moved up on the Toutle out of Kidd Valley Where her father continued working in the woods as a timber faller with Weyerhaeuser and also for Taylor Bros. Logging. She graduated from Kelso High School in 1956. She then went into Nurses Training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland OR graduating in 1959 with her nursing diploma and obtained her RN. She graduated from Seattle University in 1964 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her nursing career took her to many different areas of the country. She also worked in Saudi Arabia for several years in Nursing Management with the Arabian American Oil Company, "ARAMCO". She leaves one son, Gary Gene Sterle. Her husband, Marvin Middleton, pre-deceased her in 2001.
