John Christopher Flanagan, age 73, passed away at home in PeEll Washington, on February 3rd, 2025. He was born July 10th, 1951 in Tacoma, Washington, to John and Lucille (Mason) Flanagan.
Shortly after graduating high school in 1970, John enlisted in the Air Force, where he served 24 years and 2 days until retiring in June, 1994. He then settled in PeEll, Washington. While enlisted, John served as an Aerospace Maintenance Craftsman and Journeyman, spending 12 years abroad. Among his many honors and medals, John received a Bronze Star for his service in Southwest Asia during Desert Shield/Storm. John was a proud veteran.
Following his retirement from service, John worked in the retail industry, working for RSI and then Harbor Freight Tools, where he worked several years before retiring from his management role.
He had a passion for collecting veteran memorabilia, an extensive vinyl record collection, and anyone that knew John, knew his love for Marilyn Monroe. In his spare time, John enjoyed spending time with close friends. He loved smoking meat and barbequing. John never turned down a steak. John also took pleasure in attending his grandson’s baseball and football games.
He is survived by Shelley (Peters) & Derek Whittaker, Darren (Renee) Disney, Catherine Peters, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Siblings, Charles, Suzanne, Karen and Carmelita Flanagan and lifelong friends, Fred & Sally Thurston and Cliff Walje.
A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 at 10 AM.
