Jeanette Davis Obituary

Jeanette Davis was born May 17, 1930 to Clifton and Modean Parker in Tusquitee, North Carolina. She was the second of six children. She forever loved the Smoky Mountain area in which she was raised, having created many special memories there. She married Rudolph (Doc) Davis in 1946 and traveled west to Washington where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Their first home was in Ryderwood, Washington, eventually they moved to Toledo and then settled in Winlock in 1961. Jeanette was employed by the Winlock Public Library (Timberland Regional Library) for 27 years. She took great pride in her service to the community and her fulfillment in the encouragement of reading and use of the library. Her staff, board members and patrons became like family to her. Her spare time included camping on their property at Mt Rainier and the beach, bingo, tending her flowers and garden, Mariner games, NASCAR races, sewing, quilting and deepening her southern roots by cooking favorite dishes from her childhood. She also loved to “go”, having traveled to all 50 states, Canada and six countries in Europe. She rarely missed an event that her grandchildren and even great grandchildren participated in…She was an avid Winlock Cardinal fan! Upon becoming a grandmother in 1966 she more famously became “Nanny” to most who knew her. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Rudolph (1979) and their second daughter Yvonna Lea (1949). Nanny is survived by four of her five children, Patti Williams (Cecil), Rick Davis, Mike Davis, Brigette Davis (Terry Defoor), 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter, as well as numerous cousins and many, many friends. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 747 Wheeler Street, Longview, WA on Saturday January 12, 2019 at 11:00 am. A graveside ceremony will also take place at the Winlock Cemetery on May 18, 2019 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations will be accepted by Community Home Health & Hospice Center, 1035 11th Avenue, Longview, Washington 98632
