James Strouth Obituary

James D. Strouth, a resident of Adna, WA, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, WA on December 18, 2024. He was 82 years old. James was loved and greatly appreciated by his family and friends. He never lost his southern accent and had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed listening to the local football and basketball games. He also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, especially bluegrass gospel.

James was born and raised in Clintwood, VA, the 8th of eleven children. After graduating high school in 1960, he headed west with a sister on a Greyhound bus. He attended Centralia Junior College and was then drafted into the US Army. After his deployment to Germany, he returned to Onalaska, WA where he later met and married Laura Riley. They had two daughters, Kathleen and Tonja. James worked many jobs including logging, driving school bus, senior transportation, and Weyerhaeuser security. He will be missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his daughters Kathleen Levine (Brian) of Chehalis, WA and Tonja Carlson of Phoenix, AZ, three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, and ex-wife Laura Strouth of Centralia. He is also survived by four sisters; Ruby Ford of Graham, WA, Nina Belcher (Jim) of Winlock, WA, Joyce Strouth and Tina Wilson, both of Centralia, WA, as well as two brothers; Jonas of Minnesota and Clester of Virginia. James was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mable Strouth of Adna, brother Joe and sisters Dora Mullins, Mary Koenig, and Martha Strouth.
