Gregory Lee Bloom
Greg Bloom went to his eternal home in heaven, to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 2, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at age 74.
Greg was born in Seattle and lived all of his life in western Washington, the last seven years he and his wife Madge resided in the gorgeous foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Morton, Washington. Greg was a loving husband, dad and granddad, always a solid man of honesty and integrity, with a great sense of humor.
Greg worked his whole career at the steel mill in West Seattle, starting in 1968 with Bethlehem Steel as a crane follower and ending in 2008 as the Supervisor of the 12/10 Shipping Department for Nucor Steel, giving 40 years of faithful, dedicated service.
Greg loved fishing, camping and traveling around the Pacific Northwest with his family and friends enjoying all that the outdoor environment has to offer those who travel the back roads to see what is around the next bend.
Greg also loved music, listening to it and singing it. He sang, as lead singer, with his life-long friends in a Rhythm and Blues band they formed in middle school, called ‘The Bare Roots.’ He enjoyed both the music and comradery for many years as a young man and again in his retirement, making good music with his friends.
Greg is preceded in death by his father and mother, Elmar Bloom and Colleen (Coghlan) Bloom and his older brother Alan Hood. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Madge Bloom; his children – Jacob Bloom, Amanda Bloom and Robyn Guzman and two grandchildren – Isabel Guzman and Drew Guzman – and his older sister Nancy Hedges, and two nieces and many grand-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life is planned. If you wish, you may make a memorial remembrance for Greg Bloom to Village Missions, 696 E. Ellendale Avenue, P.O. Box 197, Dallas, OR 97338-0197.
