Gloria Jean Brooks

Gloria Jean “Jeannie” Toepelt was born on September 21,1949 at the Chehalis Hospital, the middle child and only daughter of Truman and Betty (Morton) Toepelt.  Gloria was raised in Doty, she lived with her Grandmother, Mona Morton, for a few years. She was 14 when she began dating the boy next door, Gary Brooks, on March 12, 1964.

She attended and graduated from Pe Ell School. She and Gary married on January 14,1967 during her senior year, just 3 weeks before he left for Vietnam. 

In late 1969, Gloria and Gary started their family with the 1st of 3 children, Ed; Denise and Jeff to follow in the coming years and had since gained 8 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.

Gloria worked at Fox’s Den and in the Pe Ell School cafeteria, her main focus was being a wife, mother and caretaker to her husband and children.

After a few years of multiple heath issues, Gloria passed peacefully in her sleep, on February 3rd, 2025.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary, daughter-in-law Brenda, daughter Denise and son  Jeff and her brother Tom. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Betty, bother Don, son Ed and Grandson Mikah.

There will be a memorial service at the VFW Hall on Sunday Feb 9th, 1pm. Potluck to follow.
