After graduating from W.F. West High School in Chehalis, Gerald served our country in the United States Army from 1982-1985.  He was stationed at Fort Belvoir and then later deployed to Grenada in 1985.

Gerald enjoyed scuba diving, kayaking, riding his motorcycle, going for walks, snorkeling, parasailing, going to the beach, rock hunting, golf ball hunting, working in the yard, feeding the birds and squirrels and flying kites.  He was a jokester.  He enjoyed playing pranks on everyone.  He especially loved cats.  He was a great friend, co-worker, son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Judith “Judy” Butcher; his mother, Carol Butcher, his uncle Gary Butcher, his brother, Jason E. Butcher, and his sons Benjamin Butcher (and wife, Bethany); son, Zack Butcher (and girlfriend, Mandi); and son, Jeremy Simants.
