Gerald Fountain Butcher, Jr. (otherwise known as Fountain or Butch) passed away on May 31, 2024, at St. Peters in Olympia, Washington. Gerald was born to Gerald “Jerry” and Carol Butcher on September 29, 1964, in Chehalis, Washington.
After graduating from W.F. West High School in Chehalis, Gerald served our country in the United States Army from 1982-1985. He was stationed at Fort Belvoir and then later deployed to Grenada in 1985.
Gerald was a U.S. Army Military Police Officer, security guard, a heavy Hauler Operator and a truck driver. He hauled crude oil in North Dakota. His last two jobs in Washington were hauling propane for IXL and Trans Co. Logistics.
Gerald enjoyed scuba diving, kayaking, riding his motorcycle, going for walks, snorkeling, parasailing, going to the beach, rock hunting, golf ball hunting, working in the yard, feeding the birds and squirrels and flying kites. He was a jokester. He enjoyed playing pranks on everyone. He especially loved cats. He was a great friend, co-worker, son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Jerry” F. Butcher, Sr. and his Aunt Peggy Poe. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Judith “Judy” Butcher; his mother, Carol Butcher, his uncle Gary Butcher, his brother, Jason E. Butcher, and his sons Benjamin Butcher (and wife, Bethany); son, Zack Butcher (and girlfriend, Mandi); and son, Jeremy Simants.
Other survivors include three grandchildren: Julie, Gerald “Jerry” and Skyler. Gerald also considered Kiason Mendez-Martinez and Maci Richardson his grandchildren. He held a special place in his heart for his cats, Kyle and Elani.
