Gary A Young Born October 3, 1950 in Bremerton, WA - Died January 27, 2025 at Providence Centralia Hospital from complications of Pneumonia.
Born at home in Mannette he was the 9th of 10 Children to Floyd E. Young and Elva Dunkel. He was a quiet kid and was a man of few words. He learned to play the tuba and enjoyed listening to instrumental music. He joined the Job Corps. to continue his education and get training in forestry management although he didn’t continue as a park ranger he was very skilled in cutting down trees to be placed exactly where the tree needed to be fallen.
He married Elizabeth “Beth” Stemen in 1970 and they had two Children Gary Young Jr. and Trishanna Jones.
He started work in Civil Service beginning at PSNS in 1970 and finishing at NUWC Keyport retiring after 27 years of Service. He loved to go on Road trips with his family including surprising his wife for their 50th Anniversary cross country to Niagra Falls. He enjoyed Nascar and was a fan of any Ford driver. After retiring he was able to enjoy a few races in person. He drove for a local Classic car transport and also worked for Walmart and after the Chehalis flood transferred and moved to Lewis County in 2008, he also worked at Cardinal Glass until he was forced to medically retire.
He struggled with his loss of his wife Beth after 53 years of companionship. His health began to decline and just 15 months after the death of his wife he took his last breath with his daughter at his side.
He is Survived by his Sisters Margie Winters, Delores Woods, Brother John Young, his Children, 7 Granddaughters, 1 Grandson and 2 Great Grandsons and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife Elizabeth “Beth” Young (Oct 2023), Siblings Ray, Dorothy, Betty, Terry, Florence, Ethel.
