Dorothy Martin Obituary

Dorothy Ilene (Brandt) Martin passed away peacefully, May 13, 2019. She was born in Gate, WA to C.E. (Dave) and Minnie Mae (Church) Brandt on November 26, 1930. Dorothy attended the historic one room Gate Schoolhouse through 6th grade when the schoolhouse was consolidated with Rochester Grade School. She was part of the last 8th grade class at Rochester to have a public graduation ceremony. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1948, and attended Dietz Business College in Olympia. Dorothy started working for the City of Centralia on June 6, 1950 and retired from there in December 1982. Dorothy married R. Dennis Martin July 24, 1971. They were inseparable for the next 43 years. They loved traveling in their Alpenlite to the beach and other beautiful spots across many states. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 2014. She was the last surviving child of Dave and Mae Brandt. Preceding her in death were brothers, Calvin (Lila), Alvin (Lola), Marvin (Sally), Virgil (Dorothy), Kem (Lorraine), Lyle (Bea) and Doug (Pat). Sisters, Vera L. Hill, Grace M. Brandt and M. Irene Krenz. She is survived by her daughter Deb (Steve) Henson, Chehalis and step-son Tony C. (Jutta) Martin, Salem, OR. Grandchildren, Serenity (Joel) Reeder, Beth (Rob) Paine and Rebecca (Will) Hawk. Great Grandchildren, Camden Reeder, McGuire Reeder, Matthew Waggoner, Blake Waggoner, Wyatt Davidson, Liam Hawk. A celebration of life and reception will be held at a later date. Donations in Dorothy’s honor may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital earmarked for Pediatric Brain Tumor research.
