David Coe Young Sr.

Lifelong Adna resident, David Coe Young, Sr., passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021. He was 56. 

Son of Gordon and Dianne Young, Dave was born on March 22, 1965. He attended school in Adna and graduated from there in 1983. He was very athletic playing football, basketball and baseball and passing his athletic ability to his sons, Cole, David, Jr. and Cody. He worked on the family farm his entire life. 

He could always be found around the farm, in the woods, or at the shop. He could repair anything: farm equipment, 4 wheelers, hand tools, you name it. If it was broken, he could fix it. He enjoyed restoring muscle cars and his current project was a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. 

He enjoyed everything outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to elk camp with his grandfather, uncle and cousin. He was also an avid duck hunter. From opening day to well after, he soaked up every minute of duck hunting he could. He was out there seven days a week. He took great pride in his hunting dogs and was never without a Labrador retriever from his first dog, Jake, to his most recent pup, Emma Pearl. They were his constant companions, whether it be in the blind, teaching them to retrieve, or just riding with him around the farm. They could be found wherever he was. His dogs were part of the family. 

Nothing brought Dave more joy than spending time with his three sons. He attended all of their sporting events and was their loudest fan, even to the point of bringing a duck call to one of Cody’s basketball games. Their biggest supporter, he was always loaded down with his camera, extra clothes for the boys and lots of snacks. 

Connected to nature, he was an avid rock collector. If there was an agate to be found on the place, he found it. He engrained his love for the outdoors in his boys. Working side by side with them on forts, making weapons, even wheeling in grandma’s car. A natural born story-teller, Dave had everyone in the room laughing at the tall tales he told of his adventures. He was a kid at heart. 

He is preceded in death by his father Gordon Young and grandparents. He leaves behind his sons Cole Young, David Young Jr. and Cody Young. He is also survived by his mother Dianne Young and sister DeeDe Young. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
