David Wayne Disney
David Wayne Disney (“Dave/Diz”), 63, went to be with Jesus on February 23rd, 2021, at his home in Curtis, WA, surrounded by his family & friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Dave was born in Centralia, WA on October 14th, 1957 to Crayton and Dorothy (Cantrell) Disney. He was the last of six babies to bless the Disney home. Dave grew up in Curtis, WA where he eventually settled down and finished out his life there. Bringing up the rear in the family of six kids, you would have thought that Dave’s teachers at Boistfort School would have been ready for him, but nothing could have prepared the world for the extreme amount of joy and chaos that he would bring.
He eventually promoted from a Boistfort Brave to a PeEll Trojan to finish out his high school career, where he graduated, in 1976. His high school journey included countless sporting events, getting into trouble, a little bit of homework and a lifetime full of memories and lifelong friendships.
After high school, Dave found a hobby that he greatly enjoyed. He took up boxing and was quite talented. There have been numerous stories shared over the years about his “fights”, some of which were even sanctioned during his time with the “Smoker’s”, a boxing club, which led him to an opportunity to box in Las Vegas.
Dave then focused his energy on what would eventually become, his lifelong profession. He was hired on at Weyerhaeuser in PeEll, WA, as a mechanic in 1976 while earning his degree in Diesel Mechanics from Bates Technical College in Tacoma, WA.
He was later transferred to Weyerhaeuser in Vail, WA to continue his Diesel Mechanics career. He retired in 2016 after devoting 40 years of service to a company that he was so very proud to be a part of.
Dave met the love of his life, Ann Marie Moody, in September of 1981.
They fell in love and were soon married on September 25th, 1982, in Chehalis, WA. The two became three in September of 1983 when their first daughter, Tanisha Marie, entered the world. The Disney house was finally capped off with their second baby girl, Melissa Ann, in November of 1984.
In 1987, the four of them moved into Dave’s childhood home in Curtis, WA, to care for his dad who had fallen ill.
Anyone who knew Dave, knew that he was an avid Hunter with a killer crack-shot, a remarkable pitcher, a die-hard Raiders fan, obsessive about his truck and his yard and that he not only loved playing sports but that he lived to see his daughters & his grand-babies playing ball.
Deer, elk, and middle-aged men in the batter’s box, all had great reason to fear the “Diz.” It is likely that Dave had killed more critters in his lifetime than most of us have ever dreamed about seeing and he was more than happy to tell you all about them.......over, and over again. We only wish now that we could hear those stories just one more time.
In 2009, the “Diz” became “Papa.” Between 2009-2016, Papa proudly added to his roster, until he had a total of six grand-babies to coach and mentor, all of which he spoiled regularly. His grand-babies were hands down, his proudest moments & the true highlights of his life.
Brush Prairie, Yakima, Airplane Canyon, Elk Camp, Lion’s Club Park, Water Works, Baw Faw, Little League, State Fastpitch, playing cards, throwing dice, and Big Foot, are just a handful of the places and stories that will forever live on in his legacy, and things that we would love to hear more about at his Celebration Of Life.
So, bring your stories and some tissues and join us as we celebrate the amazing life of David Wayne Disney, on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at 3 pm at the VFW Hall in PeEll, WA.
(411 S 1st St, PeEll, WA 98572).
