Carl M. Maw, born October 3, 1932 in Parma, ID, departed this life on June 10, 2022 in Monroe, WA. He was 89. After completing high school, Carl served in the US Army. He spent 2 years on Eniwetok Atoll in the Pacific during hydrogen bomb testing. In 1960, Carl received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Washington University. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 1966 and earned his Superintendents Credential from Washington State University in 1973. He served as Superintendent in Kittitas and Deer Park School Districts. In 1989 he was awarded Selected Superintendent of the Year by Region Seven Administration. After retiring he served as the interim Superintendent at Toledo and Toutle Lake School Districts. He worked as a consultant for the Star Schools Program ESD 101 and Superintendent Selection Process WSSDA, ending his consultant career at the Toledo School District as the Construction Projects Manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, visiting with friends, and spending time with his family. Carl is survived by his loving wife Beverly of 67 years, children Michael Maw (Linda) of Moses Lake, Terri Thomsen (Paul) of Woodinville, Lynette Watson (Wally) of Hauser Lake, ID, Scott Maw (Glorilyn) of Seattle, sister Judy Nyberg of Chehalis, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
