Bert Otto Bowles

Bert Bowles, age 87, passed away in his home in Napavine, Wa, on July 8, 2024. Born on January 31, 1937, Bert lived life fully touching many lives along the way.

While his thirteen brothers and sisters could probably tell you of his many times getting caught as a prankster, he was also known for his serious love of his Lord Jesus Christ. On both fronts he was well known and loved. No one enjoyed telling a good joke more than Bert (and no one laughed louder than he at his jokes either!) 

He spent many years teaching Sunday School, filling in for pastors, and he considered it his personal responsibility to greet each person attending church on Sunday and Wednesday.

In recent years Bert has shown amazing love for his wife Diana in that he literally attended to her every need. They married in December, 1957. Bert and Diana celebrated 66 years of marriage last year.

He proudly served his country in the army, spending time overseas in Germany. Danke schoen, Bert!

Most of his working career was for the government; he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in California, then retired from the U S Forest Service in 1992. After retirement he worked many years in the private sector, then volunteered his time building churches with MAPS, followed by years mowing lawns for and taking care of widows in the church and in his neighborhoods.

Bert leaves behind his wife Diana; his three children and their spouses, Tommy Bowles, Carolyn (Ken) Kincaid, Robert (Helena) Bowles; and grandchildren Mandi (Uriah) Ucab, Kenton (Stephanie) Kincaid, Christopher (Ariel) Daehms, Melissa Bowles, and Trevor Bowles. His great-grandchildren surviving him are Kenna & Kaiden Ucab, Hudson & Hutch Kincaid, Warren, Francis and baby boy Daehms (due end of July 2024). Bert’s parents proceeded him in going to heaven along with his brother Paul (Annette) and Raymond (JoAnn). Of his thirteen siblings the following are still with us Corlee (Ray dec’d), Carl (Yvonna), Doyle (Gayle dec’d), Billy (Neva), Mary Lou (James), Alice (Marian dec’d), Joseph (Anna), Jerry (Norma), Bobby (Jimmye dec’d) (Debbie dec’d), Geneva Sue, and Naomi (Bill dec’d).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Napavine Assembly of God at 11:30 AM.
