Virginia I Nixon, 75, died Friday, October 5, 2018 in her home. Home only a week after her cancer diagnosis, Virginia died peacefully in her sleep. She leaves her husband of 50 years, Charles Nixon; son Gary Newbery and wife Desiree; daughter Gina Haubrick and husband Mark and son Beau Nixon and wife Samantha, grandchildren Summer, Gary, Luther, Charli, Kylee, Brent, Lillia and soon to be born Rosalie, great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Tessa, Tristyn, Easton, Gary, Camden and Sandra. Born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma May 28, 1943 her family soon relocated to California where Virginia spent her childhood and teen years. In 1966, Virginia moved to Washington. Virginia became a member of the Mossyrock Community in 1967. A stay at home mom and talented cake decorator, Virginia spent her early community years decorating cakes for the local peoples’ celebrations. Virginia got her CNA and worked for Providence Rehab facility for a number of years. Mossyrock area residents will recognize Virginia from her final job before retirement as a clerk for Smith and Son’s Grocery. Virginia enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and reading. She loved to garden and canned many pints and quarts of food for her family. Virginia’s favorite thing was kitchen gadgets. Old gadgets and new gadgets. She was always looking for a better and smarter way to work in her kitchen. If she had one style of the gadget she probably had three!
