Janet Sue Lucas passed away on August 16, 2018 at the age of 71. She was born to Donald and Marion Whittaker in Spokane, WA August 3, 1947. She grew up in Elma, WA and graduated from Elma High School in 1965, Janet then attended Washington State University in Pullman. Janet married John Lucas in 1979 where they blended two families together. John having five and Janet having three children. They were the Brady Brunch of the Northwest. They have grown from eight children to seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Janet worked for the phone company for over 20 years, retiring in 2002. She and John then took over her fathers Christmas tree farm in Onalaska, WA. She was a member of The Farm Bureau as well as the treasurer. She held the position of President of the Rainy Daze Quilt Guild as quilting was her passion. Every quilt was a labor of love for her. She was happiest being in her sewing room surrounded by fabric. She often donated quilts to military members, flood victims and to raise money for scholarships. Janet was so many things...a loving wife, a great friend, a loving and supportive mother, a fantastic artist, and a wonderful person. She touched the hearts and lives of so many. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was proceeded in death by her mother Marion and father Donald and by one daughter Jane. She is survived by her husband John of Onalaska, WA. Her brother Ron of Kennet Square, PA. Daughters; Mary of Purdy, WA, Joann of Tacoma, WA, Shannon of Onalaska, WA, Penny of Tacoma, WA, and Kelly of Lebanon, OR. And by her sons; Randy of Port Orchard, Wa and Ian of Onalaska, WA. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Providence Oncology of Centralia at https://washington.providence.org/donate. After the service there will be refreshments available at the Claquato Church, located at 125 Water St., Chehalis WA. Sandwiches, soda and water will be provided, feel free to bring a side dish if you like.
