Virginia "Ginny" L Matthews

Virginia (Ginny) L. Matthews, 70, a resident of Winlock, passed away at home July 25, 2016. She passed after a long battle and complications from Lou Gehrig’s Disease (Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis). She was born in Bigfork, Minn., to Howard and Ida Daniels, 10 of 14 children. Ginny graduated from high school and shortly moved her parents and three younger siblings to Longview, Wash., in 1966. She married Douglas Matthews of Winlock in August 1968. Ginny worked for SuperValu and then Safeway in the produce department, retiring at 60 years old, after 28 years. Upon retirement, she started a Custom Organic Hay Company with her partner, Dave Fish, which they ran together for the past 11 years. She is survived by her children, Valerie Torres, Darcie Matthews and Hollie Matthews; grandchildren, Timothy Roundtree, Emily Roundtree, Jacob Torres, Andrew Roundtree, Jarod Torres, Matthew Roundtree and Joseph Roundtree; great-grandchildren, Draconius, Orion and Lyra; siblings, Bill, Chuck, Sylvia, Dort, Judy, John, Don, Tim and Rich; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug in 2004; brothers, Gerald, Howard Jr., Marvin and Harold.
