Reuben C Rose

June 20, 1937 ~ March 25, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Reuben Rose went to be with Jesus on March 25, 2017 at the age of 79 with his family by his side. He was born on June 20, 1937, a special Father’s Day gift. He was preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Edith Rose, a brother, Arnie Rose and a sister, Grace Boje. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanna (Starr) Rose and two daughters, Cheryl Vessey and Jacki Phelan along with her husband, Alan. Reuben is survived by three grandchildren: Roze Tronsen, Tommy Vessey, and Sarah Phelan and five great-grandchildren: Lindzy, Rylan, Reyna, Mathew, and Joseph. He is also survived by one brother, Arland Rose and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a great host of friends. Reuben grew up in Riffe, Washington, attended Mossyrock Elementary and later attended vocational boat building classes at Bates Technical College in Tacoma. As a very young man, he worked in a tie mill and drove truck for the family business, Rose and Sons. He spent several years working as a shake sawyer in various shake mills. As he grew older, he started driving a LeTourneau Log Stacker for Cowlitz Stud Mill in Randle and later for Louisiana Pacific in Thorne Bay, Alaska. He loved hiking and backpacking in wilderness areas and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Reuben loved to tell a good story. Often details were added and the stories grew over the years, but for the most part they were true...One of his greatest loves and hobbies was shopping. He loved to find a bargain! Reuben was a member of the Family Worship Center where he taught Sunday school, was a youth leader and a deacon for several years.
