Neal R. Auman, 81, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2015, at Prestige Liberty in Centralia, Wa. Neal was born on 08-17-33 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Leslie and Vera Auman. He was 1 of 11 children. At a young age he moved to Washington. The family briefly lived in Winlock, WA before settling in Kosmos on a large farm. In 1953 Neal graduated from Morton High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served proudly for 20 years, in the Air Force, retiring as Staff Sargent to come home and care for his aging parents in Onalaska, WA. While in the service Neal was a mechanic, responsible for diesel engines, generators and missiles. The Air Force sent him to school at Nurenberg Diesel in Wisconsin, where he met his lovely wife Beverly Auman. They got married on May 12, 1956. He was stationed many places and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force he worked at the Onalaska School as a custodian and maintenance man at Louie's Repair as a mechanic and Cascade Hardwood on the rolling stock. Working at Louie's Repair was his favorite job because he enjoyed the association with customers. Neal's hobbies were classic cars, fishing, his grandkids and great grandkids. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and always had a joke or card trick ready. He liked to play almost any card game and enjoyed the casino, especially Lucky Eagle Casino at Rochester, he was known as 'the candy man".

Neal is preceded in death by brothers Lawrence, Alfred, Pat, Otis, John, Kenny, and sister Nora.

Neal is survived by his wife Beverly for 59 years, his siblings Jim (Betty) (Tri Cities) Dorthy (Sequim) and Bob, (Naomi) (Onalaska), children Laurie (Rory) Johnson of Onalaska, Roger of Olympia, Vicky (Ray) Schliesser of Adna, Sherri (Mark) Hanshaw of Chehalis, Tom (Kari) Auman of Onalaska and Robert (Katrina) Auman of Wellsville, Utah. Neal has numerous grandkids and great grandkids.

Graveside service at Alpha Cemetery, Onalaska, 11 am Aug 29, with a celebration of life, potluck, to follow at Salkum Fire Hall.
