Martha Ellen (Asplund) Lampitt was born June 16th 1924 by John and Ruth Asplund, in Elberton, WA. Martha passed away peacefully with family at her side November 16th, 2017 at the age of 93 at Chehalis West Assisted Living. Martha moved to Vader, WA as a young child and graduated from Winlock HS where she worked at the shake shop and met the love of her life. Martha was married to Edward Lampitt in 1942 and they resided together in Toledo, WA. Farming was their life raising beef, pigs, chickens, and every summer hauling hay. The family traditions they started together are still going strong. Martha was blessed with a loving husband and two beautiful children. Her husband passed away in 1985 and Martha became involved in many clubs. Some of her favorites were the Cowlitz Crazy Quilters, Lone Yew Sewing Club, The Beach Bums, Winlock and Toledo Garden Club, and any type of walking group where she could win a medallion. She also had a hobby list that kept her busy from dusk till dawn. Gardening at her home was her favorite along with playing bingo at least three times a week, decorating for every holiday, ceramics, cooking, and she grew a dahlia garden that always stopped traffic. Martha lost her son, Roger Lampitt in 2015 to cancer and is now survived by her daughter, Terry (Lampitt) Zion and Son in Law Sam Zion. Her Grandchildren Craig (Laura) Zion, Dennis (Deanna) Zion, Nancy Zion, and Jason (Rhonda) Lampitt. Her Great-Grandchildren Kyle (Saphire) Zion, Melissa Zion, Samantha Zion, Tanner Lampitt, Stephan Lampitt, and Taryn Lampitt. Martha was also blessed with her Great-Great Grandson Spencer Zion. She was extremely proud of her family and loved all five generations. The family would like to thank and recognize the staff at Chehalis West Assisted Living for the wonderful care and hospitality they gave to Martha the last two years. A private gathering for the family will be at Claquato Cemetery November 25th, 2017 where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Following the service the family would like to invite friends to gather with them at Cowlitz Prairie Grange on Jackson Hwy at 12PM. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to the Esther Borte Memorial Water Feature at Timberland Bank in Toledo, WA or charity of their choice. A wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be greatly missed as she rests with our Father Lord Jesus Christ. Arrangements are under the care of Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock.
