James "Lionel" Owens

July 20, 1934- October 12, 2016

James Lionel Owens, 82, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. He moved to the local area from North Carolina in the early 1950s, Marrying Delores Douglas in 1964.

For four years he served in the Armed Forces during the Korean War as a radio operator. When he returned home, he worked at the Weyerhaeuser Mill as a carrier driver for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a practical joker always having the ability to make people laugh. He liked to travel, play cards, put puzzles together and was a huge fan of the Seahawks.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores of Winlock; 3 daughters Colleen (Terry) Stanford of Longview, Darlene Owens of Napavine, Eileen (Paul) Rogers of Chehalis; 3 grandsons Justin and Jordan Rogers of Chehalis and Landon Stanford of Longview; 2 brothers Guy Owen and John Owens of Winlock. With numerous nieces and nephews.

Lionel was preceded in death by his parents, Roberta and Eli, as well as 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

This world will not be the same without Lionel, a beloved husband and father. He will forever be missed by those who had the privilege to know him and be loved by him.
