Donna Rae Giberson

September 28, 1929 ~ September 4, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old
Donna Rae Giberson was born in Grover, Colo., Sept. 28, 1929 and passed away peacefully Sept. 4, 2016, surrounded by family. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Leonard Giberson; three children, Betty Engleman of Kelso, Robert Giberson of Winlock and Nancy Bean of Castle Rock; and a sister, Betty Breneman of Arlington, Wash. Donna’s favorite pastime was spending time with her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on camping and fishing trips. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis C. and Irma M. (Longmore) Nelson; and a brother, Dwain Nelson. Donna married Leonard in Rupert, Idaho, July 1, 1948. They traveled the western United States carnival circuit for 12 years as the ringmasters of the Giberson Freak & Wild Animal Show. During those years, she became a mother to three children. Later, the young Giberson family settled down in Castle Rock, Wash. Upon retirement, Donna and Leonard moved to her inherited property, The Poor Farm, in Winlock, Wash., so named by Donna’s grandparents, Ray and Florence Longmore. She was a dedicated volunteer for 4-H and the Olequa Senior Center. A community potluck gathering to celebrate Donna’s life is planned for 4 p.m., Saturday, at the Olequa Senior Center in Winlock. Donations may be made to the Olequa Senior Center. “To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die.”
