Welcome to the memorial page for

Curtis James Marsh

October 20, 1948 ~ September 22, 2016 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Curtis James Marsh was born on October 20th,1948 in Corning California. His parents, Ann and Gordon Marsh, were dairy farmers with a modest herd looking to put down lasting roots. By the time his folks settled in Eastern Washington the family had grown with the addition of his sister Peggy and his baby brother Lewis “Spike” Marsh. It was during this time that Curt began his lifelong commitment to 4-H and FFA. After graduating from Sunnyside high school in 1966 he began college at Yakima Valley Community College. It was here that Curt met the love of his life Suzenne DeSeor. They were Married in December 17th, 1967. Curt was a medical clerk for the Air force from 1969 to 1973 and it was during this time that he and Suze grew their own family adding a son, David and a daughter Trisha. The Marsh family was never one to stay put for long and it took 10 years before they finally settled in Boistfort Valley. Curt would often remark that this was the first place that felt like home. Curt had many jobs over the years; farming, truck driving and his time with the mobile DEXA unit, but his true passion was with the people and pigs at the Southwest Washington Fair. What started out as a way to keep his children’s 4-H projects going, quickly turned into a 30-year commitment. Lovingly known to most as Boss Hog, Curt Marsh took the Swine Department from a small group of less than 10 pigs to a program that accommodates hundreds of 4-H and FFA projects for both the Southwest Washington Fair and the Spring Youth Fair. The number of children and families he has served is his true legacy. Curt is survived by his wife of 49 years, Suze, his sister Peggy Marshlain and his children David, Trisha Douay and his “youngest son” Kyle Eiswald as well as his 5 Grandchildren Isaiah, Zakk, Kellen, Lily and Jake. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the SWW Fairgrounds in the Community Events Building.
