Rose D Wilkinson

Rose Dawn Wilkinson of Napavine, former Aberdeen resident, went home to be with her Savior March 14, 2018, at Providence Portland Medical Center, after a couragous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Buffalo, Mo. As a young girl, she and her mother moved to California, later moving to Sweet Home, Ore. It was there she met and married Warren Culbertson. They have two children, Mitchell and Brenda. They divorced in 1967. In 1972, Rose moved to Aberdeen to be closer to her mother. Through the 1970s and 1980s, Rose worked hard with two jobs as a single mom to support her son, Mitchell and daughter, Brenda Culbertson. In 1986, Rose met and married Rich Wilkinson. In 2002, she received Jesus Christ and her Savior and attended Faith Baptist Church until her passing. Rose enjoyed her weekly ladies bible study. She had a passion for the outdoors, along with her husband, Rich. They took many camping and fishing trips in Washington and Oregon. They also took many trips to Alaska and to Maine to see the grandkids. She enjoyed collecting Flo-Blue pottery and had a very impressive collection, reading, sitting on the back deck and taking long drives with her husband. In 2005, Rose’s daughter, Brenda, passed away unexpectedly. Two weeks later, Rose was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer. Rose was a fighter and beat cancer, however, it took a toll. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with COPD. This limited her active lifestyle, but was still able to do the things she loved with restrictions. She never complained. In 2017, Rose, Rich and her son, Mitchell and his wife, Chris were able to travel to Alaska to fish and see Rose’s two grandsons. The last couple of months were trips to the doctor and hospital stays. Throughout it all, Rose still had that wonderful smile and never complained. Rose is survived by her husband, Rich; son, Mitchell (Chris); stepsons, Steve (Carmen), Darrin (Jerri Ann) and Dale (Teresa); nine grandkids; two great-grandkids. Rose will be greatly missed, but we know she is home with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Memorial services will be held to honor Rose at 10:30 a.m., March 24, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church in Chehalis, Wash.
